Advanced survey support for Aker Marine Contractor’s (AMC’s) removal of the Frigg DP2 jacket

During Summer 2008, AMC successfully completed the removal of the DP2 platform at the Frigg field. AMC used their patented Buoyancy Tank Assembly (BTA) system to lift the jacket construction after cutting the jacket legs at the seafloor level.

In addition to operation of complete survey systems onboard the installation vessels Botnica and Nordica, iSURVEY’s work scope included:

Positioning of the buoyancy tanks during installation:
o Multiple GPS/Glonass RTK systems operated in parallel and remotely controlled from the installation vessels
o Roll and heading determination by use of GPS/Glonass RTK
On-line 3D modelling of the operation:
o Buoyancy tanks during installation
o Platform lift-off
o Under-keel clearance calculations with Veripos ULTRA and 3D-modelling
o Towing to shore including platform, towing vessels and seabed terrain model

Calibrations and dimensional control prior to start of the offshore operation
